FRUIT TREATMENT
Citrus fruits that are currently marketed are wax at least once. For citrus waxing to be done correctly, it must be washed with citrus detergent and dried, as debris from dirt or water on it can reduce the advantages of waxing. Therefore, citrus fruits are washed in the washing machine and dried in the drying tunnel before waxing.
The reasons for waxing are as follows:
- Provide the fruits with wax that has been removed during washing, to avoid weight loss.
- Improve the appearance of the fruits, as waxing gives the citrus a more intense and uniform shine.
- Allow the fruit to be kept in good condition for longer.
The formulations developed in Hercha are applied at the waxing stage using the wax applicator. These formulations have been used in the sector for years for the coating of citrus fruits, improving the quality of citrus fruits that cover and extending the duration of them.
Our formulations are based on mixtures of wax emulsions and lacquer rubber dissolution, complying with FDA Codex Food regulations.
